According to a media report on Saturday, Nepal and India have decided to host an expert meeting to “iron out the differences” and complete the detailed project report of the eagerly anticipated 6,480 megawatt Pancheshwar Multipurpose bi-national power plant that will be built on the adjacent Mahakali river.

The agreement was made during a meeting of the Pancheshwar Development Authority’s governing council, which took place in Pokhara, Nepal, on Thursday and Friday, according to The Kathmandu Post newspaper.

According to the article, Madhu Bhetuwal, a spokeswoman for the ministry of energy, water resources, and irrigation, “The meeting decided to extend the term of the team of experts, which expired in March.”

In order to resolve their disagreements on the DPR (detailed project report) and progress toward its completion, the two parties also agreed to hold the panel of experts’ next meeting within 10 days, the source added.
