The Directorate-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has instructed seasoned exporters to submit applications for licenses by June 30 in order to be assigned wheat export quotas to Nepal. However, it hasn’t said how much would be allowed in terms of quantity. Since May 13, 2022, there is a restriction on the export of wheat, with the exception of friendly nations and situations where it is necessary for humanitarian reasons.

In a trade notification dated June 20, the DGFT said that the government has granted Nepal’s request to import wheat from India for the years 2023–2024.
